Obituary of Gern Dewayne Beasley

Please share a memory of Gern to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gern Dewayne Beasley was born in Oscar, Missouri on May 11, 1939, to Elzy Roscoe Beasley and Edith Madeline (Johnson) Beasley. He passed away on June 2, 2019, at the age of 80.

Gern married Phyllis Marie Hill, and they had three children, Grant Dewayne, Rhonda Renee, and Roger Kent Beasley.

As a child, Gern attended Shipp School and later attended Licking High School. After graduating, he moved to El Dorado, KS, where he worked for Boeing and met the love of his life, Phyllis. They married and moved back to the Oscar community, where they made their home. Gern was a farmer his whole life. He milked cows, raised pigs and cattle, put up hay, plowed fields, and loved it all.

Gern thoroughly enjoyed his family. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would allow them to fix his hair in any fashion at any given moment. He was quite the entertainer, always up to telling a joke. He spent hours pushing the kids on the swing, leading them around on horses, giving four-wheeler rides, and being a bucking bull for the kids to jump on. He spent many miles in the saddle on trail rides with friends and family, enjoying God’s creation. He pitched horseshoes, competing in area tournaments, as well as the State Fair. Gern and Phyllis also loved to travel, especially out West.

He accepted Christ as his Savior and attended Boone Creek Baptist Church for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, one sister, Katherine Bennett, and two brothers-in-law, Leon Bailey and Raymond Wells.

He is survived by his three children, Grant and wife Felicia, of Springfield, MO, and four children, Jill, Leanne, Maddie, and Peyton, Rhonda and husband Randy Kell, of Raymondville, MO, and four children, Nicole, Ryan, Ashley, and Kaitlyn, and Roger and wife Louise, of Raymondville, MO, and two children, Sydney and Jack. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and three sisters, Joan Wells and Carole Bailey, of Licking, MO, and Wanda Booker, of West Plains, MO.

We would like to say a special thanks to the people we consider angels on earth for their loving concern for our dad. Melissa, Richard, Acleda, Bob, Delbert, Ronnie, Randy, and many others we have failed to mention.

We have so many amazing memories of this remarkable man. His laughter and sense of humor will never be forgotten. What a blessing he was to our family and to all who knew him.
