Obituary of Helen Benson

Helen Edith Pinkston Benson age 95, passed away August 27, 2015. Helen was born at Rubidoux, MO on March 15, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Annie Friend Pinkston and James Pinkston. On October 14, 1936, she was united in marriage to W.C. (Bud) Benson in Houston, MO. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, all seven brothers and sisters and their spouses, her husband, son Dale Benson, daughter Darlene Bean, daughter in law Bonnie Benson, granddaughter in law Cheri Benson, and one great grandson. Helen is survived by her son Donald Benson, daughter in law Marge Benson, and son in law Charles Bean. 5 grandchildren: Linda (Scott) Huff, Debbie Benson, David Benson, Benny (Kelly) Bean, and Sharon Greathouse. 8 great grandchildren: John (Casidy) Huff, James (Brandi) Huff, Amanda (John) Griswell, Aaron (Tessa) Greathouse, Drew (Ashleigh) Bean, Bryan and Samantha Greathouse, and April Bean. 5 great-great grandchildren: Parker and Penelope Huff, Brayden and Garrett Griswell and Joselyn Greathouse. Sister in laws: Gladys Ward Sells and Ruth Corder, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very active member of the Roby Assembly of God Church for as long as her health permitted. Helen was raised and lived her entire life in the Success area until late in life. She helped Bud with the family farm and their sawmill business. She loved being with and taking care of lots of people. She had an open door policy, everyone was always welcome. Besides raising her own family, she took in several nieces and nephews so they could attend school. Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
