Janice Pauline Nickels was born May 19, 1950. She passed away April 24, 2015 in Woodriver, Illinois at the age of 64. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Sandra Jean Graham and Donna Sue Evanoff. Janice is survived by her son, Jason Nickels of Raymondville, Missouri; sister Freda Byrd and husband John of South Roxanna, Illinois; sister Tina Paris and husband Scott of Licking, Missouri; niece Sara Rago of Alton, Illinois; niece Vanessa Howell and husband Matt of Granite City, Illinois; nephew John Grimes and wife Lisa of Pearland, Texas; niece Christine Paris of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-nephew Randy Baze (Tre); and great-nieces Layne Howell and Marissa Grimes. Janice was born and raised in the Granite City, Illinois area until her family moved to Montauk, Missouri. She graduated from Licking High School in 1968. She attended cosmetology school in Rolla, Missouri. She spent many years as a hairdresser and later taught at the Parkway Beauty Academy in West Plains, Missouri. She developed a love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and floating the Current River. Janice loved a good long conversation with family and friends and was known for "never meeting a stranger". She loved good barbecue and seafood. Janice never missed an opportunity for an all you can eat crab leg dinner. In her later years she loved to crochet and made many crocheted gifts for those she loved. Janice will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
