Obituary of Bob Green
Please share a memory of Bob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Larry (Bob) Green was born January 13, 1943, in Salem, MO, to Edgar W. Green and Lois Elese (Scholfield) Green. He departed this earth and moved to Heaven on Monday, September 23, 2024, with his wife and family at his side. Bob graduated from Salem High School in 1961. After two years of college, he joined the US Army in 1964 and served six years, ending his service with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bob married Leann Edwards in March of 1988, and together, they formed a family with their six children. Bob is survived by his wife, Leann Green; Children: Greg and Sharida Green of Licking, Missouri; Brad Green of Carthage, Missouri; Christine and Andy White of Brookline, Missouri; Vanessa and Todd Higgins of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Kelly and Chris Roper of Licking, Missouri; and Carolyn Moncrief and Jared Satterfield of Licking, Missouri, sixteen grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters, Brother: Gary and Vivian Green of Cotter, Arkansas, Brothers-in-law: Paul and Anna Edwards of Elsberry, Missouri; Mark and Karen Edwards of Troy, Missouri; Bryan and Billie Jo Edwards of Licking, Missouri, Sisters-in-law: Nona and Lee Smith of Grey Bull, Wyoming; and Karen Edwards of Cedar Hill, Missouri.
Bob accepted Jesus at his mother’s knee when he was a small child and spent his life growing his personal, intimate, eternal relationship with Father God. Bob was always quick to share his faith any time, any place, and with anyone. Bob served the Lord and was a faithful member of the Licking Assembly of God church, where he and Leann led a small group Bible study for many years. His mornings always started early with his personal prayer time and fellowship with Jesus.
Bob’s involvement in the community included serving on the first PRCA Rodeo committee, being an active Chamber of Commerce member, and being a benefactor to the community and Licking R8 schools through financial support and volunteerism. Bob was well known for hauling the baseball boys to games and practices in the old yellow station wagon, followed by the volleyball team in the old blue suburban. He spent many hours working the baseball field, getting the field and pitching mound into playing condition for the teams.
Bob loved our country and was adamant about involvement in local, county, state, and national politics. Bob was a delegate to the Republican National Convention for President Reagan but was always quick to say that he started as a Goldwater kid. Bob served the Republican Party of Texas County as Chairman, Township Committeeman, and member for over 48 years. Most recently, he was the State Committeeman representing the 33rd Senate District on the Missouri Republican State Committee. His dedication and involvement brought the conservative, grass-roots message to Texas County. You would see him with the Republican trailer and pop-up tent at local events all over the county. Parades, street events, craft shows, fairs, or anywhere he could share the message to get involved, be informed, and vote.
Bob celebrated 50 years as a REALTOR, and you could always depend on him being available at Ed Green Realty to assist you with your real estate needs. As a REALTOR, he served the local Ozark Trail Board of REALTORS as President for two terms and a member for 45-plus years. He achieved Life membership in the Missouri Association of REALTORS and was a Member Emeritus in the National Association of REALTORS. Being a REALTOR wasn’t just his occupation but an opportunity to truly be a blessing to people. The office was also often a place of prayer and ministry to anyone who entered the doors. For many years, he hosted a men’s prayer group and was frequently found praying for whoever stopped by the office. Bob was quick to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Bob had a passion for the outdoors. He loved to hunt and would refer to the mountains as his happy place. He and Leann made many trips to the mountains in Montana to their favorite campsite at the end of the road, where they would listen to the bugling elk and enjoy the solitude of a quiet evening in God’s beautiful creation. Bob and Leann were blessed to have been there this July. Bob also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting on the farm with his sons, sons-in-law, grandsons, and Pastor Paul. There were even a few hunts with a granddaughter, sharing his love of the hunt and enjoying the quiet time in the woods.
Bob’s love of God was the most essential thing in his life. Then his love for his wife, his partner in every aspect of this life, next his children and grandchildren. He prayed daily for his family and the family of God. He finished his race! He has heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Many will miss him, but he will be there for the great reunion we all have to look forward to with those who are in Christ.
