Please share a memory of Franklin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Franklin Hobart Halinar was born on September 20, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to Frank Halinar and Virginia Louise Hobart Halinar. Frank passed away on September 9, 2024 in Columbia Missouri. Frank grew up in Fenton and attended school at Larkin-Williams Elementary, Kirkwood High School and graduated from Eureka High School. In 1956, he married Susan Virginia Case and to this union three children were born. Frank served honorably in the U.S. Army. Frank and Susan made their home in Fenton, MO, Boca Raton, FL, Hiawasee, GA, Kirkwood, MO, and retired in 2000 to their farm at Montauk, Missouri. Frank was a hard worker and established his television repair business, first “Crescent TV” and later “The TV Shop” in the communities where he lived. He also built new homes and renovated existing homes in those communities. Frank was a member of the Licking United Methodist Church and served as a Trustee for many years. Frank had a life-long curiosity of how things worked; he was a jack of all trades and a master of many. His interests included bee-keeping, raising sheep and blueberries, wood-working and many, many more. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Susan, his children, Steven (Deborah) Halinar of Rolla, MO, Deborah (Duane) Nix of Centralia, MO, and Maureen (David) LaMothe of St. Louis, MO, his grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Halinar, Kevin Halinar, Charles LaMothe, Kayla (Cody) Penn, and Susanna Nix, and great grandchildren, Ryan, Brent, and Brayden Halinar and Summit Penn, sister Linda Hedden, sister-in-law Kathleen (David) Borg and brother-in law, Kevin Case, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 11-year-old brother, Richard. A celebration of life will be held at the Licking United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. following a luncheon at 12 noon and visitation at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Licking United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
