She was Iretta (or Rita) to many, but Grandma to me. A person’s childhood summers are magical, and she made them that way for me. Whether we spent one day, or a week, they were special all the same. I can still hear her laugh, and see her smile, and I will cherish that always. She loved her children (by marriage or birth) and her grandchildren. It was always the little things — watching and rewatching kid movies,
making your favorite dinner or having your favorite snack on hand, and just listening to what was important, what brought you joy, what hurt your heart. I remember when I got my first white hair at a very young age — she showed me pictures of her, and then my dad, and told me that I was in good company. I loved her so, and she will be missed. But I could my blessings that I still have my parents, her son and my mom (who loved her so) to keep my memories alive.

I was blessed the day I was born to such a kind loving woman. She was always there for us when we needed something no matter what. Our mom loved to cook family dinners, read, crochet, go for walks, watch her game shows, gardening, and most of all be with family. Our mom will be greatly missed. ❤️❤️❤️

Rita was a vibrant beautiful person whom I, as her daughter in law, am most blessed to have known. She opened her heart to me and welcomed me into the family from the time I met her. We visited almost daily for many years on the phone and when we lived near each other we would see eachother every weekend. She taught me how to crochet, make her potato soup, potato pancakes and many of her baked goodies. She showered love on her grandchildren! I will miss her voice and all her love.
