Obituary of Glenda Faye Thompson

Glenda Faye (Smith) Thompson, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Lovella Smith, was born on August 27, 1953, in Rockmart, Georgia. Glenda went to her heavenly home on June 17, 2023 at Salem Memorial District Hospital at the age of 69 years. Glenda lived her life in Duke, Missouri. She graduated from Licking High School in 1973. She was married to Lloyd Thompson in 1980 ad they had one child, Chad Thompson.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Lovella Smith, and her precious son, Chad Thompson.
Glenda leaves behind to mourn her, her husband, Lloyd Thompson; sister, Sandy (Brad) Routh; special daughter, Melinda Thompson; brothers-in-law, Phillip Routh and Grant Agee; grandchildren, Jacolby (Grace) Riden, Lexi (Cory) Riden; great-grandchildren, Riley, Nora, Kinsley, Emma, Thayne; and Glenda had two special kids who were almost like her own, nephew, Bradley Routh, and niece, Melissa Crossgrove. Glenda loved kids, anybody’s kids, it didn’t matter to her, she loved them. She would feed them all the snacks they wanted. The kids in Duke would play with the Fly Swatter Bubbles and knew Glenda as the “Popsicle Queen”. The kids also loved the green turtle sandbox with ants. Glenda has many nieces and nephews, Bradley (Summer) Routh, Melissa (Jeff) Crossgrove, Roger (Alyssa) Crossgrove, Gabe, (Claire) Crossgrove, Keely (Todd) Gray, Abbey and Adam Crossgrove, Kaytlyn (Brent) Routh, Tracie Routh, Bella Routh, great niece and nephews, Violet and Felix Crossgrove; and one on the way, Oaklynn.
Glenda will be missed by her church family, her neighbors, and many friends and family. Glenda worked for Rawlings for many years until her health declined. She spent her remaining years at home with her husband and son. She took pride in her special family dinners and her yard full of flowers. She attended church at Duke Community Lighthouse. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Glenda will take place Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Duke Community Lighthouse Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at Duke Community Lighthouse Church with Sandy Routh officiating. Burial will follow in Watts Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Duke Community Lighthouse Church in memory of Glenda.
