Obituary of Debbie Annette Stilley

Please share a memory of Debbie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Debbie Annette Layton- Stilley was born November 22, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri to Leonard Levi Layton and Mary Louise (Womble) Layton. Debbie went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2020. After growing up in St. Louis, her family moved to Licking, Missouri where she was saved and baptized at an early age. Debbie graduated from Licking High School in 1977. She attended Southwest Baptist College. Debbie married Leland Vearl Stilley Jr. and had one daughter, LeAnn Louise Stilley. Debbie had a kind-hearted soul and would always help everyone in need, even before they sometimes knew it themselves. She always sent people cards and letters for every occasion and holiday. At every family gathering, she would always take pictures, no matter how much the kids and cousins complained. Everyone always smiled for Aunt Debbie. She was our family historian and keeper of things. Every Christmas, you could always expect a Christmas Letter and cheeseball from her. And for the kids, she always made sure they had goodies to eat and snack on. She would always make little gift baskets for people of their favorite things and would surprise them. She had a strong love for animals and cared for cats, the neighbor’s cats, and every wild or stray animal in between. Debbie was a caregiver for her family all her life. She filled her life with numerous activities such as being a member of the Charity Sisters, babysitting, working at Jack’s Corner Freeze, Rawlings, George O’ White Nursery, cleaning houses and businesses, singing for weddings, funerals, and church services. She also arranged flowers at Woody’s flower shop and spent many years as a postal carrier in Texas. Debbie is survived by her husband of 30 years, Vearl; daughter, LeAnn of Mountain Grove, MO; brother, Mike Layton (Cheryl) of Sedalia, MO; three sisters, Lucy Hinchliff of St. Louis, MO, Cendy Harrell-Carson (Jim) of Sedalia, MO, and Stacie Hutsell (Calem) of Licking, Missouri; step-mom, Genie Layton of Licking, MO; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Visitation for Debbie will be held Thursday, April 23, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Licking, Missouri from 12:00-2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Licking Cemetery with Pastor Rob Lilly officiating. Fox Funeral Home plans on live streaming the graveside on our Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to VFW Post 6337.
