Sue was mom to many people blood or not. If she called you her kid she treated you as such. I will hold the many memories we shared together forever in my heart. My family will forever love her n thank her for being mom to us. As well as a dear friend of my mom and dad's. She comforted my family during the loss of myom and dad. There is two very dear memories among a ton we shared together.
One which bring laughter of the time I got my 79 Ford stuck in the river on a gravel bar. I wasnt sure what we could do to get it out. Mom Sue n Kenny lived in Eldridge at the time. She sent Loren with Kenny back to their trailer to fetch am old truck I won't say what kind it was for I don't remember. But anyways Loren drove I down to the river. Kenny and Loren pulled me out. And mom Sue laughed. Why you ask because my fishing pole was in the bed of the truck with two fish not attached to the truck was laying beside the pole. Mom Sue said well I guess there your dinner. So we went back to the trailer at Eldridge where Kenny bbqed my fish on the grill after I told Mom I never seen anyone BBQ fish.
The second was when mom Sue lived in Conway n I worked at Walmart. Mom was stuck in the snow at her house. I drove a 86 Monte Carlo. And she called me and said she needed some noodles n some chicken if I planned on coming to visit that night. Because she had already fixed the dinner for everyone else. So I got off work that evening drove toom Sue's house. After getting the chicken n noodles from the store. I also.toom mom her favorite soda n see ice along with some candy bars. So I get to mom Sue's house n down a long steep hill to the little white house. Mom had the wood heat stove so hot she had the front door open. I asked what was for dinner. Gave her the noodles and chicken and she had made my favorite meal. Which is chicken and dumplings. I asked if everyone had ate n she said yes but that she wasn't eating till I had got there. I said why and she said silly it's your birthday that why you will eat. Then we will all have cake. And we did just that. I ate and then we all are the cake for my birthday. I had been working two jobs barely out of high school. And mom took great care of me. The next day I was stuck in the snow down the big hill and couldn't go to work. Mom said well I guess you call in and we play cards all night. The next day the farmer that mom rented the house from came and pulled the vehicles. That were snowed into the gravel road n encouraged everybody to leave them there n not get stuck again. We asked why n he said well it's Thanksgiving tomorrow n he wouldn't be home.
So many good memories from mom.
From her cooking on the river bank, campfires, wood stoves, BBQ grill to her many delicious recipes that I don't remember how to cook. Mom will be forever missed as I'm forever greatful for having go the chance to meet her.
May you live a long healthy life in heaven mom Sue n play may tummy games with my mom(Linda Sloan and dad ( clay Sloan).
