Harold Andrew Thompson, age 85 years and 5 months, son of Charles Thompson and Carrie (Firestein) Thompson, was born September 12, 1929 in Raymondsville, Missouri. He passed away January 27th, 2015 at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alma Jewel Ratliff and Reba Lois Kamler, as well as his daughter, Vicky Kay McElyea.
Harold is survived by his wife, Frances (Lewis) Thompson; sons, Harold Andrew Thomspon Jr.(Susan Thompson) and Sean Maurice Thompson (Renee Thompson); and his daughters, Robin Lenee Glenn(Thomas Glenn) and Johonna Charlene Kiser (Duane Kiser). Harold had eight remaining grandsons, Donald McElyea, David Thompson, Jason Thompson, Patrick McElyea, John Kiser, Sean Thompson, Mathew McElyea, and Robert Kiser; two remaining granddaughters, Jill Frances Perry and Rebecca McElyea, and a passel of great grandchildren, Austin McElyea, Davin Thompson, Adara Thompson, Andrew Teem, Alisa Thompson, Morgan McElyea, Jayde Thompson, Brent Thompson ,Mekenzy McElyea, Madison Thompson and Mark McElyea.
As a young man Harold worked as a saddle and western wear model for his mother’s saddle company. She made a saddle for Roy Rogers! During the Korean War, just following his modeling career, he did a tour in Korea as an artillerymen. Upon his return after corresponding for two years he married his wife of 64 years Frances Lewis. Harold worked as a truck driver for the remainder of his post military career and 14 years before retiring owned and operated his own trucking company in St. Louis, Missour ( F & H Express).
Following his retirement, for the past 12 years, he was a member of the American Legion and served as Commander of Post 559 of Licking, Missouri from 2008 to 2011. He was also a Lifetime member of the VFW and served as Chaplin of Post 6337 of Licking, Missouri from 2010-2011.
Harold enjoyed spending time with his family. His immediate family of 43 made for exciting get-togethers with tons of loving children and grand children, surrounding him with food and folly all the time.
Harold will be greatly missed by his family, friends and particularly his wife and love of his life, Frances.
