Dear Gail, Nelson, Lawson, Greg, Owen and Juliana, I have only sweet positive memories of dear Charles. I thought he was such a gentleman, very kind, with a good sense of humour. And it was clear he loved his family most of all! I am very sad not to be there in person with you today, to give him a formal goodbye. But I am thinking of you all with fondness and will hold you close in my heart.
Love, Gwenda

Nelson, Lawson, Gregg, Owen, and Julia,
Your dad is fondly remembered by so many of us. I have had many conversations with him at my mom and dad's store. I thought a lot of him. I know how hard it is to let go, but I am confident that God's Holy Spirit will give you strength to honor your father's memory in the coming days. The heart aches because he is no longer here. But the Spirit rejoices, knowing that He has stepped into eternal life with the Father. What a beautiful life it is! Take care. Love all of you, always.

I am Uncle Charles Grand niece. I read my journal after hearing of his passing and found a special line for Uncle Charles. The entry went something like this.. “I love going to the Van Zyverden’s farm more than I can describe. Seeing Uncle Charles made me feel like I was meeting a little piece of the Grandpa I never knew. It filled something in my heart that may never have been filled had I not made the effort to find that special farm so far away. I hope to visit every year for the rest of my life”....
Uncle Charles loved farming as I also love farming. It was nice to know it was in my blood somewhere when I got to see what he had created over the course of his life. He was tough and kind. And I will always admire him. I look forward to seeing him again. I love you Uncle Charles.
