Vera Mae (Stewart) Dixon Vera Mae (Stewart) Dixon, age 90, of Holts Summit, Missouri, formerly of Licking, Missouri was born February 18, 1924, in Hannibal, Missouri and was called home by her Lord October 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Ray Lee and Sara Edna (Tawney) Stewart. Mae was baptized into Christ in 1955 and faithfully attended the Gospel Chapel Church of Christ near Licking for many years. When she moved to Holts Summit in 1996 she joined Capital City Christian Church in Jefferson City where she attended until her health prevented her from doing so. On May 15, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leonard Leon Dixon who preceded her in death March 4, 1993 after 52 years of marriage. To this union three children were born. Mae and Leonard started their life together in Licking as farmers. Later, Mae was employed by Rawlings where she worked for ten years sewing and putting together untold numbers of baseballs. In 1978 she went to work for the Licking Public Schools as a cook in the elementary school cafeteria. She retired in 1994. Mae loved to travel! In her lifetime she was able to enjoy Disney parks in both California and Florida. She traveled outside of the U.S. twice. Mae also enjoyed trips to Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, and Rocky Mountain National Parks. But, her most favorite thing in life was to be with family, especially around the holidays. Every day was special if she was with family. In addition to her husband, Mae was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Suzanne Rene’ Yamnitz ; three brothers, Roy, Fred and Bob Stewart; and one sister, Helen Taylor. Mae is survived by her three children: Bob Dixon and his wife Barbara of Wheatland, Missouri; Darrell Dixon and his wife Debbie of Linn Creek, Missouri; and Delores Yamnitz and her husband Larry of Jefferson City, Missouri; three sisters, Roberta Dixon and Doris Anderson both of Licking, and Darline Webber and her husband John of Rolla. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
