Obituary of Wilma Jean Brown

Please share a memory of Wilma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 12, 2014, Wilma Jean Brown went to the waiting arms of her Savior. Jean was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, on December 2, 1928. She had 12 brothers and sisters. When she was a child her large family moved to California where her father found work in the shipyards and the fields of the San Joaquin Valley. In California Jean worked in canneries and as a waitress. It was in Merced, California, where she met the love of her life—Vinson Brown. They were married 64 years before Vinson passed in February 2011. Jean and Vinson became Christians in the early 1960’s. They served God faithfully with fellow Christians at the Church of Christ in Chowchilla, California, and the Church of Christ in Licking, Missouri. Jean loved to spoil her family and she was always working in the garden, canning vegetables, cooking meals or making a pie for someone. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, a great role model for her daughter-in-laws and she had compassion for the old, the feeble and the disabled. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Vinson Brown, her parents Floyd and Gladys Villines, her brothers Connard, Howard, Kenneth and Bill; sisters, Frances Villines, Chris Watson, Margaret Villines and Maxine Parker. Jean is survived by her brother, Sonny Villines; sisters, Mae Egan, Joan Dickenson and Beverly Ewing; her children, Rusty and Kathy Brown of Abilene, Texas, Dick and Trissa Brown of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Darrin and Cassia Brown of Licking Missouri; seven grandchildren, Andy Brown and wife Melissa, Jeremy Brown, David Brown and wife Kristie, Adam Brown, Kara and husband Zach Sheets, Chad Brown and wife Hannah and Dillon Brown; thirteen great- grandchildren; plus her many friends and church families in California and Missouri.
