Obituary of Jennett Haneline
Please share a memory of Jennett to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jennett Virginia Barnes was born July 14, 1918 near Licking, Missouri, in the home of her parents, Edward and Minnie Barnes. She went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2014 at the age of 96. After finishing high school Jennett went to the St. Louis area to find work. She found Al Haneline, who became her husband. They were on their way home from signing the papers on their first home in Rock Hill when they heard on the radio that Pearl Harbor had been bombed. The events that followed found Al on the beaches of Normandy and a long war to endure. Jennett lived in that home in the St. Louis area with her sisters, Geneva and Anna Mae and their first born daughter, Sandy, until the war was over and Al was blessed to be able to come home. A call was made to Jennett’s mom and dad, Ed and Minnie Barnes, to ask them to find a farm in the Licking area for them to buy. Of course, they were happy to do that and Al and Jennett and Sandy moved to the farm about 11 miles outside of Licking. Then came three more kids: Alan, Donna and John. Sandy and John now live in the St. Louis area. Donna lives in the Branson area. Alan lives on the farm where Jennett was able to live through her latest years. All her kids still call that farm home. Jennett was a devoted Christian and followed the teachings of Jesus. She studied the Bible and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Licking as long as her health allowed. Her prayer was that we all would find a saving faith in Jesus who died on the cross as payment for our sins. His perfect sacrifice allowed us to be reconciled with God and have a relationship with him and a home in heaven. Jennett will be buried in Ray Cemetery only a few yards from the place she was born. Jennett lived longer on this earth than her parents, Ed and Minnie Barnes, her sisters, Geneva and Anna Mae, her brother Loren and her husband, Al. She will be missed by her 4 kids, 8 grandkids and 6 great grandkids and many other friends and relatives. Her great attitude, warm smile and love for everyone will always be remembered.
