George H. Rodgers, MD, 87, Prairie Village, KS, passed away December 14, 2013 at Research Medical Center. He was a resident of the Reminiscence Unit at Brighton Gardens Prairie Village since October 2012. George was born November 27, 1926, in Licking, MO. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and transferred to medical school at the University of Colorado at Denver where he received his doctorate of Medicine in 1950. We went into general practice and served in the US Army, stationed in Germany in 1956-57. He returned to Iowa for general practice and then to General Hospital (Kansas City, MO) for his residency specializing in Urology. He practiced at Research Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital until his retirement in 1990. He loved his work and his patients. His hard work and professionalism affected the lives of many. Upon retirement George spent time playing lots of golf, perfecting his swing, and bettering his score. He was a proud member of Leawood South. George is the son of the late William Dorris and Elsie Rodgers. He is preceded in death by his brother Roland Rodgers. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Wanda Lea Rodgers; sons Douglas A (Maggie) of Overland Park, KS, and David M. Rodgers of Chicago, IL; his loving Grandchildren, Carl William and Elizabeth Claire Rodgers. He leaves many friends and relations. The family is especially grateful for his friends and loving staff at Brighton Gardens Reminiscence Unit who took such good care of him.
