After graduating high school, Chris joined the Navy where he met his first wife Linda Johnston. This union was blessed with the arrival of his three children. After being discharged for the Navy, Chris returned to Missouri for several years and worked as a dispatcher for the Phelps County Sheriff's Department. He reenlisted in the Marines and spent the next 15 years serving his country. Upon returning home he worked as a home health care provider until his retirement, this where he met and married Paula.
