Barry Michael Smith Obituary

Barry Smith, 62, of Licking, Mo., passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly.

Born to Thomas and Wilma Smith in Houston, Missouri on June 26, 1963, Barry grew up with a deep love for the outdoors. He was happiest with a fishing pole in hand on the Piney, sitting in the woods at sunrise during deer season, calling in a big gobbler in the spring, or feeling the wind on his face while riding his Harley down a country road.

Barry was known for his big heart and his willingness to help others in need. He never met a stranger and was always the first to lend a hand -whether it was fixing something, offering advice, or just being there when someone needed a friend.

He is survived by his children, Derek Norris (Lynette), Jessi Buckner, and Ashley Adey (Lucas); and his beloved grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart — Emma Buckner, Caitlyn Norris, Alex Buckner, Conway Adey, Trapper Adey, Ellie Norris, Sayge Adey (aka “the favorite”), Timber Adey, Jack Buckner, and Amelia Norris. He also leaves behind his siblings, Kim Mackeben (Rob Wallace), Tonya Starnes (Mike), and Kevin Smith (Kim), along with many family and friends who loved him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Wilma Smith; paternal grandparents, Austin and Betty Smith; maternal grandparents, Jim and Bessie Sullins; and several aunts, uncles, and other cherished family members who welcomed him home with open arms.

A man like Barry leaves a hole that cannot be filled, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him-not only as family, but as a friend, a helping hand, and a constant, steady presence in this world. His absence will be felt in every hunting season, every Harley ride, every drive down a gravel road, and in every life he quietly lifted up along the way.

A visitation for Barry will take place Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Licking Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfh.net. Arrangements are entrusted to Fox Funeral Home.
