James Thomas Smith Sr., age 74, passed away October 8, 2025 in Springfield, MO. Born June 21, 1951 in Eunice, MO to Thomas and Hattie Smith.

Jim married the love of his life, Vickie Lynn Jarrett on Valentines Day in 1976. To this union, two children were born.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Lynn Smith; and siblings, Don Smith, Eva Lewis, Wayne Smith, Carl Smith, and Joyce Price.

Jim is survived by his two children, Carrie Sullins and husband BJ, and James Thomas Smith Jr. “Jamie”; grandchildren, Ethan Sullins, Kylie Sullins, Kinsley Sullins, Cordelia Smith, and Nehemiah Thompson; siblings, Betty and Howard Hill, Bonnie Lewis, and Juanita “Maxine” Leggett.

Jim loved his rock ‘n’ roll, working on classic cars, spending time with his grandkids, growing tomatoes in his garden, and his beloved dogs, Brutis and Daisy. He will be remembered as a loving father and great friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the large pavilion in Deer Lick Park. We invite you to dress casual or wear your favorite rock n' roll t-shirt, in remembrance of Jim.
