Melvin Lloyd Mitchell Obituary

In loving memory of Melvin Mitchell who gained his wings on Sunday, August 10, 2025. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin Mitchell, who left us peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was a one-of-a-kind man who lived his life on his own terms, filled with laughter, adventure, and love.

Born with a wild spirit and a heart of gold, Melvin found joy in the simple things- early mornings with a fishing rod in hand, days spent in the woods hunting, the thrill of a good gamble, and of course a good motorcycle ride was his favorite. But nothing made him light up more than a crowded garage, good music playing, and friends gathered around for some karaoke, car talk, and some good ole stories.

A true jack of all trades, he had a knack for working on cars and always had a project going on the garage. His hands were always busy, whether under a hood or raising the next generation with strength and love. He proudly helped raise his three granddaughters, giving them not only guidance, but also countless unforgettable memories, stories, and plenty of laughs.

He was the life of the party and the rock of the family- an unforgettable character who made friends everywhere he went and never met a stranger he couldn’t turn into a buddy.

Though he’s gone, his spirt lives on in the stories we tell, the songs we sing, and the lessons he taught us. His life was nothing short of “good crazy” and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Melvin was the son of Eli Burk and Fern Evelyn Mitchell, along with seven siblings. He later married his wife, Sharon, after basic training and they shared 59 long loving years together.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Sharon Mitchell; only son, Michael Mitchell; three granddaughters, Mikayla Mitchell, Macie Mitchell, and Madison Mitchell; and siblings.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother; and one granddaughter, along with many friends.

He will rest easy, keeping the fish biting, the engine humming, and the music loud. We will all miss him dearly.
