Bert was such a dear soul. He helped so many people in Chloride including yours truly.
One time I was going to lose my house insurance because I only had a wood stove for heat, although there was a furnace in the house that didn’t work when I purchased it. Bert came over and "worked his magic". I had a working furnace and was able to renew my house insurance.
He was such an asset and blessing to so many. RIP dear friend.

Bernie Schinder posted a condolence

I am Bernie Schinder, a first cousin to Bert. While he may have spent a good portion of time in Cleveland, I remember him from his time in Philly. He was an amazing individual who could fix anything. He had to move to Arizona because of his asthma problem and the dry weather there was better for him than Cleveland or Philly. He got to Australia by signing on to a freighter, bought a car when he got there, worked in Australia, fixed the car, sold it for profit & signed on to another freighter to come back. He also supervised some mining property in Colorado. He told me the owners knew he had no experience in this field but trusted his ability to handle anything that required “hands on” supervision. He was always there for anyone in need and found the perfect mate when he met Diane. Diane and her family made him the happiest. His gentle qualities will be missed.

Bert loved people nature old trucks and tools, as a thirteen year old boy I followed Bert around as much as I could Bert would always take time to explain what he was doing and why I have so many memories of spending time with him as he repaired trucks cars or what ever someone in the family needed help with. Somehow Bert found pleasure in every job, when he worked he whistled he would find a rythym and problems got solved. I have been a mechanic now for 46 years my self and often think of Bert’s style and patience I will miss him terribly but we will be reunited one day in heaven as Bert gave his life to Jesus and received eternal life.
