Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Lewis Rogers met his Heavenly Father on Friday, June 17, 2016. Richard was born in Columbus Grove, Ohio on October 6, 1932 to Charles and Lelia (Eggleston) Rogers. Richard married Patricia (Ebling) Rogers and were blessed with 53 years together and four daughters. Richard is survived by his four daughters, Pamela Baldwin and her husband Alan, Cathy Smith and her husband Scott, Paula Ransome and her husband James, and Robin Rogers; nine grandchildren: Renee Smith, Robert Smith, Chris Baldwin, Curt Baldwin and wife Danielle, Sarah Pritzker-Maurer, David Pritzker, Alexandra Lopez and husband Van, Rachel DeLong and Roxanna Jones; and thirteen great grandchildren: Hailey, Khloe, and Kyler Baldwin, Hunter, Hanna and Harper Baldwin, Patricia and Emma Maurer, Michael Lopez, Nathan and Riley Pritzker, Aidan and Elizabeth Hueppelsheuser; three siblings: Hulda Dunlap and husband Nolan, Noretta Schantz and husband Bill, and John Clifford Rogers and wife Mary Louise; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lelia, wife, Patricia, and four siblings: Harold Rogers, Charles Rogers, Betty Ileen Steffen, and Leonard “Ben” Rogers. Richard (Dick) was an entrepreneur at an early age. After an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he and his brother Ben operated a bakery in Delphos, Ohio. He went to work soon after for Standard Oil later purchasing his own SOHIO station in Columbus Grove, Ohio. He desired country living, and in 1967 relocated his family to a farm near Edgar Springs, Mo. Dick was happiest when surrounded by the outdoors and farming. He worked and retired from the Missouri Department of Conservation where he was a supervisor at the George O. White Nursery near Licking, MO. Dick was an avid sportsman and crack shot; he and Pat were once featured in the magazine, Outdoor Life. He loved visiting with family and friends; he and Pat were known for their hospitality, in fact, you weren’t able to leave their home without sharing a meal or snack along with a story or two. Dick never knew a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered and missed by all the lives he touched.
