Obituary of F. Marie Lewis

Freda Marie ( Chipps)Lewis was born January 23,1940, in Salem, MO, to Wade Weldon Chipps and Vera Nell Scott. She went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2016 at her home with loved ones by her side, at the age of 76. Marie was always a daddy's girl, helping her father with his logging business and taking care of the farm. Marie left home at the age of 18 after graduating from Houston High School, and went to work in St Louis as a secretary for a major corporation for a couple years. Quitting to go to beauty school, in the late 1950's. She owned her own beauty shop in Raymondville, for about two years. She started working for Velma Wantland at the Chuckwagon cafe in Raymondville, where she met the love of her life, Ralph Lee Lewis. They were married for 51 years. She opened and ran a clothing store, which was also in Raymondville, until her three children; Dan,Vern, and Sherry were born. She also worked at Horseman's Paradise Barn, which was owned by her parents, as a cook and waitress in the late 60s and 70s. She owned and operated Marie's Dairy Freeze in Raymondville, now known as Acleada's Korner Kitchen. In the late 70's and 80s she worked at HD Lee, doing various jobs, for over 20 yrs until the factory closed. Even though she was 60 at the time, she decided to go back to school, and get another career. She got a degree in Medical Billing. She did her internship at Butch Burch Insurance, in Houston, MO. They liked her so well, she was offered a full time job. She worked for Butch for many years, until her health no longer allowed her, forcing her to retire at the age of 73. Marie made many friends during her lifetime, that loved her dearly. She had a number of hobbies which included: quilting, embroidery, playing bunco, dominos, and bingo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Vera. Three half brothers, Wendell, Donny, and Billy. And Ralph, her husband. She is survived by her 3 children, Dan Lee and wife Maria, Vern Weldon and wife Lynn, Sherry Louann and husband Bob. Six grandchildren, Nick and wife Megan, Chad and wife Lisa, Jared, Grant, Trudee, and Sammi Jo. Three great-grandchildren, Carson, Alivia, and Bostyn. Her 3 siblings, Bub and wife Carole, Marilyn and husband Billy, Myra and husband Joe. And many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by many of her dearest friends, too many to mention. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.
