Darrell G. Bentley was born May 11, 1950, in Mammoth Spring, AR, to Dorothy (Davis) Bentley and Glenn F. Bentley, and went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family and friends. Darrell lost his birth mother at nine months old to scarlet fever. His father later remarried Mary (East) Bentley. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-mother, and one daughter Angela (Bentley) Deaton. He is survived by his wife Bonnie (Hagler) Bentley; a half-brother D. Victor Waits and wife Nina of Holts Summit, MO; two step-daughters Tracy Logsdon and husband Brooks of Kirbyville, MO, and Robin Wallace and husband Bobby of Licking, MO; five step-grandchildren Trey, Braden, and Brody Logsdon of Kirbyville, MO, and Cole and Linzie Wallace of Licking, MO; brother-in-law Jim Hagler and wife Anna Jane; sister-in-law Judy Rinne and husband Jack all of Licking; a host of nieces, neophews, cousins and many close friends. Darrell spent his early years in Mammoth Spring, AR, and his teenage years in Pocahontas, AR. After graduation, he joined the Army's 101st Airborne Division and fought in the Vietnam War. After discharging from the Army, Darrell returned to Arkansas to work construction in the Cherokee Village area. He then went to work in law enforcement as a deputy and later as a Missouri State Park Ranger at Montauk State Park. Darrell retired from Montauk after 25 years of service. His greatest passion was fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing for bass. After retiring his interest turned to fly fishing. he was always working on designing a new fly to try out the next time he went fishing. His love of fishing gave him the idea of a boat locking device. Through lots of hard work and persistence he obtained a patent for his product DOC-LOC. He loved to spend time with family and friends. he was a wonderful cook. He enjoyed inviting everyone over to eat. At every holiday event he surprised the family with a new delicious recipe.
