James Thomas Akers, son of John Wesley and Bessie (Prater) Akers was born at Greeley, MO, September 1, 1924. He went to be with the Lord December 2, 2015 making his age at time of death 91 years, 3 months, 1 day. Tom with his brother Edward had a sawmill until 1950 when he moved to St. Louis to work at Herman Body making customized truck bodies. On March 31, 1951 Tom married Louise Williams in the Methodist Church in Licking, A.B. Garrison, minister performed the ceremony. In 1954 Tom worked at H.K. Porter Company welding heating and air- conditioning units for hospitals and schools. In 1974 he worked at Nuclear Cooling Company. All the welders at nuclear cooling were given tests by the U.S. Navy. They all passed some of the tests. Tom was the only one that passed every test and was given certification to weld units to be placed on nuclear powered ships and submarines, working there until he retired in 1989. In 1990 Tom worked with David Ault and built Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, MO. Tom was a country boy at heart, he liked to fish, float on the river, camp out, cut wood, but most of all he liked to bale hay. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruby Wells; brothers John, Edward and Bill. He is survived by his wife, Louise of the home;
