Hollis (Pete) Barnes was born December 23, 1925 to Elby and Modia (Vollmar) Barnes and went to join his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2015 at his home in Licking, Missouri. On April 22, 1950 Hollis was united in marriage to June Baker. To this union were born two daughters, Sherry and Barbara. On February 2, 1963 he married Carolyn Broughton and on that day, Hollis became a loving father to her daughter, Dixie Lea. Two children, Hollis Kent and Suzanne, were born to this union. Throughout his life, Hollis was an honest and hard-working man. He spent many of his working years logging timber, in service station work and as maintenance supervisor for Holiday Inn and Econo Lodge. Hollis enjoyed many and varied activities with his family and friends. These included horseback riding, boating and water-skiing and attending country music shows. Hollis made a profession of faith as a Christian in 1997, was baptised and attended church as long as his health permitted. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine Nord; and infant son, Hollis Kent; a grandson, Bradley Cantrell; a brother-in-law, Jerry Broughton; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elby and Marguerite Broughton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; his four daughters, Sherry (Kenny) Moncrief, Barb (Kenny) Tripp, Dixie Lea Baker and Suzanne (Bob) Wind; grandchildren, Ginger Shutters, Melissa Miller, Lance Moncrief and Ashley Jost; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a niece, Billie Decker and her children, Doug and Sandra; brothers-in-law, Kelly and Richard and numerous other relatives and friends. Hollis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
